5 Manhattan Variations For Fall

As the weather (mostly) cools down, you may want a drink to warm you up after a chilly day. Check our 7 Manhattan variations to switch it up this autumn.

Cuban Manhattan

From The Waldorf Astoria Bar Book

In your mixing glass, add:

2oz Dark Rum (Bacardi 8yr or full bodied rum)

1 oz Sweet Vermouth

2 dashes Orange Bitters

Stir with ice and strain to coupe glass.

Garnish: lemon twist & brandied cherry

Dry Manhattan

Is the Manhattan too sweet for you? You may prefer a Perfect Manhattan or even the recipe for the dry variation below.

In your mixing glass, add:

2 oz Rye Whiskey

1 oz Dry Vermouth

2 dashes Angostura bitters

(or try orange bitters)

Stir with ice for 10 seconds.

Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a lemon or an orange twist.

Black Manhattan

In your mixing glass, add:

2 oz Rye whiskey

1 oz Averna

1 dash Ango

1 dash Regan’s O. Bitters

Stir with ice. Strain to coupe and garnish witch cocktail cherry.

In your mixing glass, add:

2 oz scotch whiskey

1 oz sweet vermouth

2 dashes Orange Bitters

Stir with ice.

Strain to a cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Emerald

A Manhattan with Irish whiskey is sure to make you smile.

In your mixing glass, add:

2 oz Irish whiskey (we prefer Red Breast 12 yr)

1 oz Sweet Vermouth

2 dashes of Orange Bitters

Stir well with ice. Strain to a coupe or Nick & Nora glass.

Garnish with an orange peel.
