Tequila Cocktails: 3 Recipes Beyond A Margarita
Don’t get your citrus twisted, we LOVE Margaritas. It’s one of our go-to favorites! But if you’ve ever had a guest say something like, “Make me something with tequila….not a Margarita”, these recipes will be good to keep up your sleeve. We hope you are ready to see what else tequila can do!
1. FRUGAL & FAMOUS
For a twist on the mezcal-based Naked & Famous, sip on this tequila cocktail from Chris Green, bartender at Rye in San Francisco.
3/4 oz Blanco Tequila
3/4 oz Strega
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz Aperol
Shake well with ice and double strain to chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
2. FRIDA
This lovely cocktail comes from The Waldorf Astoria Bar Book, created in 2010 for an event on Cinco de Mayo.
Shake:
1 1/2 oz blanco tequila
1/2 oz Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
`1/2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 oz house-made Raspberry syrup **
Shake well with ice for 10 -15 seconds. Strain to rocks glass. Fill with crushed ice.
Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
3. ROSITA
Originally from Mr. Boston: Official Bartender’s Guide, 1974 this cocktail gained new fame from Gary Regan of PDT.
Stir:
1 1/2 oz Reposado Tequila
1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
1/2 oz Campari
1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Stir with ice for 10 -15 seconds. Strain to chilled coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
