The Cosmopolitan: A Modern Classic
Time to celebrate an iconic vodka cocktail - the Cosmopolitan! This cocktail shined in the spotlight with the late 90s/early 2000s television show Sex and the City, during which it got pretty popular. With its mix of citrus flavors and cranberry juice, this drink is tasty and packs a punch!
The origins of this cocktail have been debated. Once again, our cocktail history is full of tales; this one includes origin stories from Dales, Cheryls, Tobys, and more. In the mid to late 80s, a drink called the Cosmopolitan was popular in gay bars in San Francisco, but the drink was not the same as the Cosmos of today. This version had Rose's lime juice and grenadine, a concoction Toby Cecchini called "pretty but disgusting." Cecchini is widely credited with bringing us the Cosmo we have today; his version uses Citron vodka and fresh lime juice.
How may be more relevant than who about the Cosmopolitan and its impact on cocktail culture. The Cosmo becomes synonymous with the popular television show Sex and the City and inspires many to try a cocktail!
